Children's Theatre

Productions written and presented by adults for younger audiences. These companies are extremely popular in Europe and heavily subsidized. Polka Theatre, founded by Richard Gill, is one of the most famous of such theatres, situated in London with its own specifically designed theatre and workshops. One of the oldest companies, Unicorn, (founded by Caryl Jenner) has also recently moved into its own purpose built theatre in London. Many established playwrights write specifically for these companies, which operate in repertory as well as having full touring companies. (See also Theatre in Education)
